Job Summary

Here at Brock Sports & Recreation, we strive to be a hub for innovative, engaging, and high-quality experiences in sport for the Brock University community and beyond. As an integral member of Brock Sports & Recreation, you will have the opportunity to be part of a great team in a dynamic sporting environment. As the Student Lead for Hockey, your job will be to assist the Manager, Events & Partnerships and serve as the lead for hockey home game events and events staff. The successful applicant must be able to build relationships with stakeholders and help problem solve game day operations.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the recruitment and training of home game student staff prior to the start of the season.
  • With guidance from the Manager, Events & Partnerships, implement and monitor operational plans for all home games.
  • Confirm game day staff are available and scheduled for all home games.
  • Ensure the smooth operations of the event and supervise staff during games.
  • Ensure OUA and U SPORTS protocols are always followed.
  • Ensure the operations of the clock, statistics, music, penalty boxes, ticketing, and all other related technical functions are running properly.
  • Assist the Sports Information Coordinator in the writing and distribution of the in-game script.
  • Attend weekly meetings regarding upcoming games and special events.
  • On game days, arrive 2 hours prior to game start time (e.g. 7:00 PM game start means 5:00 PM arrival).
  • Collaborate and build working relationships with other stakeholders/promotional teams and campus partners.
  • Liaise with coaches on any special groups in attendance or game arrangements.
  • Step in and work any position when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled at Brock University for the duration of the 2025/2026 season.
  • Strong knowledge about the sport of hockey and its rules, specifically as they apply to OUA and U SPORTS regulations.
  • Experience working with and leading a team.
  • Prior game day operation experience is considered an asset.
  • Available for all hockey games, including regular season, exhibition, and playoff games (evenings, weekends, reading weeks, etc.).
