Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Manager Corporate Financial Services, assists in research, project review and consulting assignments.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Researches accounting/financial management policies of other municipalities and applicable Public Sector Accounting Standards.
  • Identifies opportunities for improved data interface from supporting/feeder systems into SAP.
  • Identifies opportunities for improved internal controls.
  • Assists with reviewing and consolidating policies.
  • Assists in analyses assigned to the Finance Division.
  • Performs other related duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Must be a secondary school graduate and currently enrolled full time in an accounting, business administration, commerce or math program at a college or university.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in English.
  • Must be highly motivated and work well in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have excellent research and report writing skills.
  • Must have intermediate Microsoft Office skills and have e-mail/group software experience.
  • Computerized Accounting systems experience is an asset.
  • Must demonstrate a positive and professional demeanor.
