The Opportunity

The CLC Fitness and Recreation Centre, a collaborative venture between Olds College and Chinook's Edge School Division, caters to a diverse and dynamic clientele, encompassing both institutional partners and the wider community of Olds and its surrounding regions.

Currently the CLC Fitness and Recreation Centre is seeking enthusiastic, driven individuals to contribute to the seamless daily operations of the facility. This role primarily focuses on ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the fitness centre while providing a safe, engaging, and exceptional experience for all clients. Additionally, this position may support the execution of a broad spectrum of fitness or recreational programs and activities. This role reports directly to the CLC Fitness and Recreation Manager.

Key Job Functions

General Reception and Administrative Functions

  1. Deliver prompt, courteous, and professional assistance to clients, ensuring a positive experience
  2. Respond to client inquiries, concerns, complaints in a timely, and efficient manner
  3. Foster strong relationships with clients, offering consistent support and building trust
  4. Communicate relevant details about services, programs, and policies clearly to clients
  5. Process registrations, payments, and other client transactions efficiently and accurately
  6. Accurately input and update data into systems or databases for record-keeping and reporting purposes
  7. Organize, file, and retrieve documents, ensuring that all records are properly maintained

Health & Safety

  1. Clean, organize and assist in maintenance of fitness & recreation equipment
  2. Ensure the safety and well-being of the clientele by enforcing fitness center rules and regulations
  3. Possess a practical understanding of fitness equipment and its proper usage
  4. The employee is responsible for being aware of health and safety responsibilities and expectations as outlined in college policy, departmental and area procedures, and provincial legislation
  5. The employee will attend training as required by the supervisors and conduct work in a manner that protects the health and safety of themselves and others

Programming

  1. May assist with the coordination and delivery of recreation programs, including but not limited to youth programs, events, and Intramurals

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required

  1. Six months experience in customer service, or program coordination would be considered an asset
  2. Successful candidates must be secondary or post-secondary students prior to and/or immediately following their work period
  3. The successful candidate must have current First Aid/CPR
  4. The incumbent must be comfortable with engaging the public and able to work early morning, evening and weekend shifts
  5. Demonstrates strong verbal, written, and active listening communication skills
  6. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  7. Critical thinker adept at solving problems, including in urgent or dynamic situations
  8. Displays strong attention to detail, ensuring tasks are completed with precision, and accuracy
  9. Energetic, adaptable, and professional in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  10. Makes decisions with our Community partners, stakeholders, and the sectors we serve in mind, demonstrating the value of relationship building
  11. Acts ethically, openly, honestly, and respectfully to build and maintain an environment of trust, safety, and well-being

Conditions Of Employment

  1. Current Criminal Reference check that is free of any offenses
