Regina, Saskatoon and Northern Campuses

The First Nations University of Canada is accepting applications for Student Ambassadors at the Regina, Saskatoon, and Northern Campuses.

As a Student Ambassador, you will play a pivotal role in fostering cultural exchange, promoting academic excellence, and enriching the university experience for both current and prospective students. You will represent the university with pride, embodying its values and traditions while highlighting the vibrant spirit of Indigenous culture. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to your community, develop valuable skills, and make a meaningful impact on campus life.

The role will be a Part time position with up to 30 hours per week available from May 1, 2025, to August 31, 2025, transitioning to reduced hours from September 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026.

The Organization

The First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) allows students of all nations to learn in an environment of First Nations cultures and values. The University continues to uphold its mission of enhancing the quality of life and preserving, protecting, and interpreting First Nations people's history, language, culture, and artistic heritage. FNUniv is a unique learning place specializing in Indigenous knowledge and providing post-secondary education for Indigenous and non-Indigenous students within a culturally supportive environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess the following:

  • Must be a minimum 2nd-year First Nations University of Canada student with a cumulative GPA of 65% or higher.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and build meaningful relationships.
  • Passion for promoting Indigenous culture, history, and traditions.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and a commitment to student success.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies is an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.

Duties

  • Campus Tours: Lead guided tours of the university campus for prospective students and their families, highlighting key facilities, academic departments, and cultural landmarks.
  • Event Coordination: Assist in organizing and hosting campus events, including orientation sessions, cultural celebrations, and academic workshops.
  • Outreach and Recruitment: Engage with high school students, community groups, and Indigenous organizations to promote First Nations University programs and recruit prospective students.
  • Cultural Programming: Collaborate with Indigenous Elders, artists, and community leaders to develop cultural programming that celebrates Indigenous heritage and fosters a sense of belonging among students.
  • Social Media Management: Contribute to the university's social media presence by creating content, sharing stories, and engaging with followers to highlight the unique experiences of First Nations University of Canada students.

Hourly rate determined by accumulated credit hours.

Hours of Work

  • Up to 30 hours per week (May 1, 2025, to August 31, 2025)
  • Reduced hours (September 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026)
