Job Title: Strength & Conditioning Sport Coach

Job Overview:
Northern Strength Academy is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Strength & Conditioning Sport Coach to join our team. This role focuses on designing and delivering evidence-based training programs, teaching proper form and technique, and applying periodization principles to optimize athletic and general fitness performance. The ideal candidate is passionate about empowering clients and athletes, with a demonstrated history of excellence in speed and agility coaching, athletic development, and strength training.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Design and Periodization:
    Create individualized and group training programs tailored to clients’ and athletes’ needs, goals, and sport-specific requirements.
    Develop detailed periodized training plans to maximize performance outcomes while minimizing injury risks.
    Adapt and refine programming based on data-driven assessments, athlete feedback, and competition schedules.
  2. Technique Coaching and Safety:
    Teach and reinforce proper form and technique across a wide range of movements to ensure safety and maximize training efficacy.
    Provide hands-on coaching with real-time feedback to improve biomechanics, movement patterns, and exercise execution.
  3. Performance Analysis and Monitoring:
    Conduct assessments to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement in athletes and clients.
    Utilize advanced tools such as force plates, timing gates, and body composition analyzers to track progress and inform programming.
    Analyze athletic performance post-competition and modify training strategies as needed.
  4. Speed and Agility Coaching:
    Design and deliver targeted speed and agility sessions focusing on linear and multidirectional mechanics.
    Apply expertise in coaching educated running mechanics for athletes of all ages and abilities, from youth to elite professionals.
  5. Training Delivery and Athlete Development:
    Lead training sessions emphasizing strength, power, endurance, speed, and mobility.
    Nurture and develop athletes' potential, focusing on long-term skill and athletic performance improvement.
    Provide clients with a deeper understanding of the science behind their training to foster engagement and commitment.
  6. Competition Preparation:
    Plan and coordinate competitive schedules and programs that align with training objectives and athlete goals.
    Motivate and prepare athletes mentally and physically for competitions or games, fostering confidence and resilience.
  7. Team Collaboration and Leadership:
    Work alongside multidisciplinary teams, including coaches, physiotherapists, and sport scientists, to create cohesive athlete development plans.
    Contribute to a positive and high-performance training culture by building strong relationships with athletes, clients, and staff.

Qualifications:

  1. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), NSCA-CPT, ASCA Level 1 or equivalent certification required.
  2. Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength & Conditioning, or a related field.
  3. Extensive experience designing and delivering strength, speed, and agility programs across diverse populations, including youth and professional athletes.
  4. Strong knowledge of periodization principles, biomechanics, and injury prevention strategies.
  5. Proven track record of coaching in high-performance settings, including professional sports teams and elite athletic environments.
  6. Exceptional communication, motivational, and leadership skills with the ability to educate clients and athletes about the science behind their training.

Preferred Attributes:

  1. Demonstrated expertise in coaching educated running mechanics and multidirectional speed drills.
  2. Experience planning and delivering sessions for a variety of age groups, from children to elite adults.
  3. Background as a competitive track and field athlete with firsthand experience in sprints, heptathlon, or multi-events.
  4. Proven ability to plan and manage risk, safety, and compliance procedures in training environments.
  5. A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on the latest trends in strength and conditioning.

Preferred Candidate Profile:
This role is ideal for a result-driven professional with a proven history of success in speed and agility coaching, athletic development, and performance training. Candidates who have worked with professional sports teams, coached in academic settings, and led group or individual training sessions are highly encouraged to apply. Experience in educational roles, such as delivering fitness and coaching certifications, is a strong asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00-$65.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
