About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, HR Strategic Partnerships, your main responsibility will be to provide strategic HR support to our Downstream assets in Lloydminster.

The role will work closely with the Strategic HR Partner Specialist in Lloydminster, our HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) and the HR Operations team to deliver programs and services to the business in alignment with the business and people strategy and plans.

The successful candidate will have strong critical thinking, client management skills and the ability to build and maintain a professional network within and outside of the HR department.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity located in our Lloydminster office.

Work Environment:

  • This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area.
What you’ll do:

  • Support HRBP Specialist in delivering HR services to leaders within the Lloydminster Region, focusing on people aspects of business strategy, including organizational capacity, capability, employee experience, and risk.
  • Support organizational change initiatives by assisting with adjustments to processes, teams, and structures, ensuring alignment with people goals and strategic objectives.
  • Provide input into business and people strategies, while observing HR data trends to identify potential impacts on strategy execution.
  • Track business performance, diagnose organizational challenges with leadership, and implement Cenovus People Plan to drive effectiveness and align with performance goals.
  • Support HR projects and initiatives by addressing gaps in organizational capacity, capability and employee experience, collaborating with COEs for seamless execution.
  • Collaborate with Workforce Planning teams to ensure accuracy, budget management and timely approvals for the workforce plan.
  • Collect feedback from clients regularly to ensure HR programs, projects, and support align with the business area's needs and goals.
  • Assist in organizational design, workforce planning, talent development, retention strategies, and key HR programs such as leadership development, performance management and compensation processes.
  • Support employee development through talent reviews, succession planning, and internal mobility movements, while collaborating with COEs to ensure consistent HR services like recruitment and employee changes.
  • Provide advice and consultation to management and employees on performance and conduct.
  • Report and address employee concerns in accordance with Company policies.
  • Represent the business area’s needs in HR program development, offering input to COEs for fit-for-purpose programs and continuous improvement.
Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years HR experience in a corporate environment. HR Business Partner role experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation or equivalent is an asset.
  • Experience in employee relations, conflict management and organizational navigation.
  • Technical HR experience in performance management, learning and development, succession planning, leadership development, compensation and total rewards, diversity and inclusion, and organizational team effectiveness and development.
