Steward Helper

Reporting to the Chief Steward. Every memorable dining experience at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts begins behind the scenes with our Culinary team’s commitment to safe and efficient operations. As a Steward Helper, you will play an important role in support of your Colleagues and the preparation of exceptional cuisine.

  1. Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive service to all our guests and colleagues.
  2. Maintain a safe and clean work environment and ensure that all Health & Safety standards are met, procedures followed, and have the knowledge and tools to work safely.
  3. Maintain awareness of, and ensure compliance with all food safety & hygiene policies and procedures (as outlined by the EHC manual) are followed at all times.
  4. Complete all EHC temperature records, honestly and correctly (as outlined by the EHC manual).
  5. Deliver a clean & sanitary work area and equipment in all Food & Beverage areas, including the staff cafeteria & Fairmont Gold.
  6. Perform daily cleaning duties of all F&B back spaces and equipment.
  7. Operate the main dishwashers and restock equipment in all Food and Beverage areas.
  8. Maintain proper recycling and composting procedures.
  9. Assist the Kitchen team with food service delivery as needed.
  10. Have good knowledge of WHMIS.
  11. Maintain awareness of, and ensure compliance with all sustainability and food waste reduction/diversion policies, procedures, and programs at the hotel.
  12. Promote teamwork between Stewarding and all other departments, especially food and beverage service colleagues & leaders.
  13. Demonstrate a high level of responsibility and accountability.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. 1 year previous experience in a similar position in Food and Beverage operation.
  2. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
  3. A strong capacity to work with and motivate a culturally diverse workforce.
  4. Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume Kitchen.
  5. Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  6. Energetic, self-motivated, outgoing, team-player.
