Qualifications

  • Red Seal Steam fitter / Gas fitter
  • Experience in the following areas is considered an asset:
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Previously completed professional apprenticeship
  • Hydraulic (hoses and fittings), Tig and Stick, Stainless steel & aluminum welding, fabrication, lockouts, break in work, instrumentation (control valves)
  • Proven track record of working safely at all times
  • Strong commitment to ongoing learning and development
  • Highly developed communications skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong proficiency or willingness to work with computers (i.e. MS Office)
  • Effective interpersonal skills, especially between work teams
  • Ability to assess and prioritize daily work for execution as per job estimating
  • Possess effective time management skills
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement practices in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to make decisions that align to mill policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Operation & Maintenance teams to understand/scope out work requests
  • Complete associated administrative requirements with each work order using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and skills
  • Understands how to read P&ID’s / Piping Diagrams and other technical documents
  • Understanding of process and steam piping and its regulations
  • Install piping and associated systems, maintain to perform as designed for equipment to operate
  • Working knowledge of all types of pipe fittings and connection methods
  • Drive to become a site leader for piping related issues and solutions
  • Know the importance and relevance of solid preventative maintenance practices as it relates to piping system
  • Manage employee and contractors for shutdowns and project work including periodic contact with vendors and suppliers for equipment information
