Responsibilities

• Testing of products is performed by a different role. The primary responsibility of the Staff Writer is to use the results from testing to understand how a product performs and where it fits in the market, and to communicate this understanding through various types of work:
• Write and update buying recommendations.
• Write and update product reviews and comparisons between products.
• Write scripts for videos that review products, compare products, or recommend products to buy.
• Interact with our community and answer questions.

Personality

• You love doing research and comparing products. You typically spend weeks researching before buying something.
• You like helping people. The whole purpose of our website is to help people find the best product for them.
• Keep up to date with market news, discussions, and opinions surrounding products (e.g., Monitors, Keyboards, Cameras, etc.).
• You are good at explaining complex subjects.

Qualification/Experience

• Strong analytical skills.
• Fast learner.
• Previous experience writing product reviews and/or working in retail/sales is a bonus.

We're open to hiring either an entry-level candidate or one with more experience as follows:

Writer I
Entry level position, but other levels can be achieved within two years of employment.
Salary range: $50-$60k

• Less than two years of professional writing experience.

Writer II
Note: Further advancement exists beyond this role.
Salary range: $60-$72k

• More than two years of professional writing experience.
• Deep interest and understanding of product categories that we test.
