The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) offers challenging and exciting careers in health and social services delivery and administration in Canada’s North. This position is located in a 47 bed hospital in Inuvik, serving Inuvik and 13 health centers within the NTHSSA and Sahtu region. The pharmacy is the only hospital dispensary within the region, supplying all medication, other pharmaceutical products and medical supplies to the hospital and health centers. The incumbent helps the Head Pharmacist to organize and control an average inventory of $200,000.00 worth of pharmaceuticals and distribute these to the wards and health centers, to a total of $700,000.00 a year. Drug information is provided to physicians, nurses and all other members of the health care team upon request. The Pharmacy department also provides medication counseling to patients. This position reports directly to the Head Pharmacist.

This level of knowledge is acquired through the completion of a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency would be an asset. Two years of similar experience in a healthcare facility is preferred. The Staff Pharmacist must have successfully obtained their Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada certificate, hold a pharmacy license from a province of Canada and be eligible for registration under the NWT Pharmacy Act.
Candidates must provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector check. Failure to provide a satisfactory check may deem you disqualified from the competition. The successful candidate will be required to obtain proof of current up-to-date immunization status. Eligible for current registration under the NWT Pharmacy Act and meet the requirements for licensing as a pharmacist in the NWT is mandatory for this position. A mandatory requirement for this position is a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
