Staff Accountant

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing team.

The Opportunity

The Staff Accountant performs accounting and finance functions for several US-based window plants and functional departments. The Staff Accountant will perform accounting transactions, account analysis/reconciliations and financial close processes to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the company’s books and records. The Staff Accountant also has the responsibility to ensure consistent and effective compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Applies company policies and procedures and any applicable laws and regulations. The incumbent will also support the needs of the business by providing account analysis and required financial reports to better understand financial information that may have an impact on financial and operational performance.

What You Will Do

Essential duties of the Staff Accountant include but are not limited to:

1. Execute daily, weekly, and monthly accounting activities to ensure timely workflow and recording of all financial transactions.
2. Perform activities related to the monthly closing process for several US-based plants and functional areas. Responsibilities include running reports, preparing journal entries, preparing accruals, account reconciliations, creating standard work, and improving the accuracy and timeliness of the close process.
3. Perform processes and controls to ensure the proper valuation of inventory and accurate reporting of cost of sales. This includes accounting and analysis related to labor and overhead costs.
4. Day-to-day involvement with operations to support them as needed.
5. Extract, review, analyze, and compile information from a variety of financial and non-financial systems.
6. Perform analysis and process transactions related to construction in process and other capital expenditures monthly.
7. Ensure compliance with internal policies and controls covering broad areas including data integrity, asset protection, segregation of duties, financial reporting, information systems and adherence to corporate policies (GAAP, SOX compliance, etc.).
8. Maintain effective communication between plant, finance, and leadership.
9. Identify and execute on opportunities for process improvement and information sharing to improve financial decision making.

Who You Are

1. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or relevant discipline required.
2. Minimum two to three years of experience in a finance or accounting at a manufacturing company and/or public accounting.
3. Has a fundamental understanding of accounting concepts including the interrelation of the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
4. Excellent verbal and writing skills including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the company.
5. Team player who is organized, a self-starter, and pays attention to detail.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
8. Experience with Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP), HFM/Hyperion/OneStream consolidation tools and data analytics tools.
