Our Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is looking for auxiliary staff for a dual role working Stadium Attendant and Labourer 1 tasks at Swangard Stadium and Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West. Duties involve providing customer service to the public and problem solving with user groups; set-up and take-down of stadium events in all types of weather conditions; facility supervision; assisting user groups by opening and securing the facility; moving and setting up equipment; operating lights and facilitating the use of public address and sound systems as required. Janitorial tasks may be required to keep dressing rooms, washrooms and other areas clean, stocked and in an orderly condition during periods of heavy use. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications for this position include:

• Completion of Grade 12
• Experience in facility operation and special events
• Knowledge of set-up procedures and equipment for stadium events
• Ability to enforce rules and regulations
• Ability to follow safe work practices
• Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public and user groups
• Skill in conflict resolution

Location: Swangard Stadium and Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West
Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work, which may include on-call shifts. Typical shifts range from 4 – 8 hours in length scheduled between Monday to Sunday as early as 6:00 AM to midnight, with some shifts scheduled outside of these hours.
