The Role
This position is responsible for planning, organizing, designing and delivering various employee training solutions designed to support the business objectives
Internal Training Consulting
- Manage Learning & Development email inbox
- Administration of online procedure manual(s)
- Document and update processes and procedures (business’ and internal) as required
- Draft and distribute communications to keep staff informed of products, policies, technology changes, upcoming training events, and new initiatives
- Participate in corporate initiatives to build a positive learning culture throughout MCAP
- Research current trends to stay informed on industry best practices (training, business, and technology) and opportunities in order to provide appropriate recommendations
- Seek and provide peer feedback on training delivery, design, and development
Training Needs Analysis
- Consult with Single Family stakeholders to determine business’ performance gaps
- Determine and recommend most appropriate training solution(s), based on target audience, number of participants, geographical location, budget, etc.
- Identify any operational risk(s) present within the training request
- Determine how employees will be supported on the job
Design
- Consult with Subject Matter Expert (SME) to determine and compile training content (learning points and objectives)
- Leverage existing training materials where possible to utilize in the development of new materials
- Organize content into programs, courses, topics, and objectives
- Design course outlines for instructor-led training and e-Learning training modules
- Leverage adult learning principles and fundamental learning strategy to ensure transfer of knowledge (teach, show, do, evaluate)
- Determine most suitable method(s) of delivery to meet the needs of the learner and business unit
- Consult with Instructional Design team to ensure training solution is aligned to design plan
- Design training programs for multiple business units
Development
- Develop training solution based on design plan – training needs analysis, content document, design document, pre-built templates, existing materials
- Seek and provide peer feedback on training material development
- Obtain sign-off from business unit leaders throughout development of the training solution
- Develop training schedule to support learners’ knowledge transfer
- Conduct a program pilot (dry run) when possible and revise materials as necessary to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of delivery
- Maintain training materials (job aids, program guides, procedures, evaluations, e- learning modules) to ensure alignment with business’ processes
- Develop training programs for multiple business units
Implement Training Programs
- Schedule logistics of training delivery – participants list, training schedule, facilities/room bookings, resources – to meet business’ training needs
- Review materials prior to training to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of delivery
- Organize and set up the learning environment and supporting materials in preparation for the training session
- Facilitate virtual and in-class training to satisfy learning objectives
- Maintain professional disposition, appropriate body language, and confident demeanor to ensure expert delivery
- Establish expectations of learners, and reinforce positive and negative behaviours
- Provide opportunities for engagement and participation, in keeping with adult learning principles
- Check in with learners throughout the session to confirm understanding and to foster learning
- Recognize participants’ various learning styles, and adapt training style accordingly
- Document learner observations and provide feedback to participants’ leaders
- Deliver training programs to multiple business units
Evaluation of Training
- Distribute reaction surveys (level 1), knowledge assessments (level 2) and monitor on- the-job performance (level 3) to evaluate effectiveness of training
- Summarize and distribute knowledge assessment results to the participants’ leader(s)
- Analyze feedback to assess effectiveness and impact of training solution
- Adjust training solution as required to improve upon results
Project Management
- Maintain awareness of business unit goals, objectives, strategies, procedures and technology changes
- Analyze data, identify trends, and minimize obstacles that stand in the way of job performance and success
- Provide subject matter expertise and impact analysis on major projects and business opportunities; anticipate next steps and mitigate potential risks
- Demonstrate expert skills in end-to-end project management and ownership, including proactive updates to manager/stakeholders throughout project
- Build and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external customers
- Review established processes to ensure validity and effectiveness, provide recommendations for efficiencies and implement for improvement where required
- Ensure polished communication, organizational skills and detail orientation
What You Bring To The Team
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience
- Minimum 2 years of Learning & Development experience
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Expert in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint applications
- Strong aptitude in managing competing priorities
- Autonomously carries out duties with integrity and takes accountability for decisions and results
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Critical thinking and consideration of holistic business impacts
- Strong cross-departmental relationships
- Ability to coach, mentor, and support staff (new employees, cross-trainees, and peers) to close knowledge and/or skill gaps and resolve difficult or unusual issues
- College diploma/University degree, preference in Education/Adult Learning
- French is an asset
