The Headlines:
In the role of Sr Manager, Marketing Finance located in Toronto, Ontario, you will provide leadership and expert counsel on financial-related matters to the Marketing Leadership team and more broadly with the Commercial team. This role directs a team and influences a broader team of Commercial Leaders. This role will ensure that the enterprise is provided with accurate and timely reports of current and projected financial performance through the direction of efforts in planning, budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and analysis. This role will ensure meaningful financial information is provided to Marketing Leadership to assist in their functional and decision-making needs. This role provides direction to the Marketing team related to savings targets, including understanding/abatement of potential risks. This role works collaboratively and decisively within and across the organization at all levels, creating value, buy-in, and commitment.
Responsibilities:
- Relationship Building
- Partner with multiple levels of the organization to assess current processes and activities to identify and execute enterprise improvement opportunities and drive savings and improve return on investment.
- Ensure personal credibility and impact through influencing others, leading people and communicating clearly.
- Apply interpersonal relationship, consulting, and advocacy skills to execute change management within the business, adding value to facilitate alignment across functional groups, primarily in the Commercial side of the enterprise.
- Process & Systems Expertise
- Understands and facilitates the integration of business processes, people, and relevant technology, to identify, configure, and communicate useful information efficiently and effectively.
- Performance Management/People Development
- Develop and enhance a staff capable of providing accounting and analytical support to Corporate Marketing.
- Combine clear articulation of expected team and individual performance with motivation of empowerment.
- Develop a results-oriented culture.
- Develop goals and performance criteria and monitor performance with regular feedback and review.
- Attract and retain future potential talent.
- Financial Analysis Expertise
- Directs the development of the Canada’s annual marketing spending budget emerging from commercial planning as well as subsequent periodic reporting and forecasts, by executing guidelines and assumptions and coordinating overall consistency of budget preparation across the Commercial side of the enterprise.
- Directs the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, procedures, and reporting systems to assert sound internal control systems, and provide appropriate financial and administrative reporting to supported departments.
- Demonstrates insightful use of financial analysis techniques, tools and concepts to provide practical counsel to enterprise partners and to help drive business results.
- Actively partners with the VP marketing, marketing leadership team to drive improvements in investment choices resulting in increased ROMI and Marketing spend effectiveness including improvements in working/non-working ratios.
- Organization Thought Leadership
- Partner with the Marketing leadership team to identify opportunities for better investments and savings opportunities.
- Drives and implements process improvements.
The Qualifications:
- You have a relative 4-year degree in Finance or Accounting
- You have a minimum of 8 years of experience in a finance or accounting role
- Manufacturing and product costing experience is a plus!
- You are proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- You have the ability to manage competing priorities among several stakeholders and excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions as necessary
- You challenge the status quo in order to eliminate inefficiency and improve end to end processes
- Your actions are fueled by strong customer service influence, and you demonstrated the ability to effectively influence and collaborate without formal authority
