SUMMARY:

The Vancouver office is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. Projects executed out of Vancouver are primarily in the metals and energy sectors and consist of large EPCM and small operations support projects. We work in a multi-discipline engineering environment where every individual is empowered with the opportunity to make a difference.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Leads a team of Electrical Engineers, Designers and CAD personnel in the successful execution of electrical engineering and design for mining/mineral processing within budget and on schedule.
  2. Provides technical leadership and guidance for the electrical team.
  3. Mentors engineers-in-training and designers.
  4. Prepares and checks calculations as required.
  5. Prepares electrical equipment specification packages.
  6. Checks vendor drawings and data for compliance with specifications.
  7. Prepares detailed design, supply, construction and installation specifications.
  8. Develops conceptual designs, studies, reports and proposals.
  9. Ensures effective communication within project teams and with client engineers.
  10. Tracks project metrics.
  11. Reports to Area Project Engineering Manager for project issues and to the overall Electrical Lead for functional issues.
  12. Visits project sites and other Hatch design offices for project-related activities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Engineer with 8 plus years of relevant experience – preferably in an EPCM environment for industrial projects in utilities and/or metals.
  2. Engineering degree and registered as a Professional Engineer with the P.E.O or another Canadian Professional Engineering Association.
  3. Good oral and written communication skills.
  4. Knowledge of industry, regulatory codes and standards.
  5. Proficient with the following electrical design tools and software: SPEL, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower and ASPEN.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
  7. Collaborates on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions.
