Position Title: Senior Decision Support Analyst

Position Status: Full Time

About the Position

Reporting to the Vice President – Finance & Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Decision Support Analyst will provide corporate and program support in the collection, analysis, reporting, and utilization of data and information to support decision-making, performance measurement, and quality improvement. This role is strategic in nature where critical thinking and long-term visionary planning is a key requirement. Responsible for both internal and external reporting requirements and will work closely with all programs, management, and the Senior Leadership team to provide timely, accurate, and comprehensive data and analytics to support evidence-based decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support Decision Making at all Levels
    • Promote information-driven decision making at all organizational levels.
    • Apply high-quality data (i.e. Health Records, Meditech, Financial Case Costing, etc.) and information to support appropriate resource allocation and informed decision making.
    • Provide analytic support to the budgeting process.
  2. Dashboard Development
    • Work with Managers to identify and develop clinical performance and outcome indicators for their programs.
    • Develop dashboards, based on program needs, to support ongoing performance and quality measurement, planning, and reporting.
  3. Data Analysis and Presentation
    • Assist Programs with interpretation, analysis, and presentation of clinical and financial performance data and the development of action plans to address areas that require improvement.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Health Informatics/Information, Health Sciences, Computer Science, Data Science or Health Administration, or other degree with significant hospital experience is required.
  • 3-5 years’ current experience working in performance measurement or decision support in a hospital or other healthcare setting is an asset.
  • Self-directed and strong collaborative skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products (Excel, Access, Power BI, Power Apps) required.
  • Knowledge experience with Microsoft SQL and SQL Reporting required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to present project and performance information clearly and concisely.
  • Superior critical thinking skills and an ability to generate ideas and fresh perspectives.
  • Proven track record managing competing demands and excellent organization skills.
  • Familiarity with CIHI data required (i.e. DAD, NACRS, OMHRS, NRS, ALR, SETP, WTIS).
  • Experience utilizing national and provincial Business Intelligence Tools (i.e. intellihealth, IDS, CIHI Insight, iPort).
  • Knowledge of healthcare funding methodologies (HBAM and QBP) is an asset.
  • The ability to thrive on change, work in a consultative and customer-oriented capacity with others, and demonstrated analytical capability are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required.

Employing approximately 550 highly skilled and dedicated employees, Norfolk General Hospital is a full service, 106-bed hospital with 24/7 on-call coverage of Specialists in Surgery, Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, and Obstetrics as well as on-site 24-hour per day medical coverage.

The Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home is a 110 bed, publicly owned, non-profit facility opened in 1975. A member of the OANHSS, NHNH is fully accredited by Accreditation Canada and operated under the direction of a 10-member community Board of Trustees.

The West Haldimand General Hospital is a rural community hospital in the town of Hagersville, southwestern Ontario, which provides basic hospital and health care services to the people of Hagersville, Caledonia, Jarvis, Townsend, Cayuga, Fisherville, Selkirk, Nanticoke, the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve and the Mississaugas the New Credit First Nation Reserve.
