What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Director, Regulatory Compliance Management, the Senior Consultant, Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Portfolio Management supports the Oversight Functions (OFs) for regulatory compliance oversight, to ensure the Bank’s regulatory compliance risk is managed within acceptable levels and in accordance with regulatory expectations. The Senior Consultant (RCM) also provides independent and effective challenge to the OFs risk assessment of their regulatory group topics. The objective of the role is to provide compliance advisory services, independent oversight and guidance on regulatory requirements and maintain the RCM Library in alignment with the RCM Policy. This position involves coordination of RCM activities, and ensuring alignment with industry standards and the Bank’s Regulatory Compliance Management Policy.

How you’ll succeed

  • Regulatory Landscape- Stay abreast of changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Analyze the impact of regulatory changes on the organization and adjust compliance strategies accordingly.

  • Compliance Oversight – Support the development and communication of consistent compliance methodologies, guidelines and practices for the Program to be used by the Oversight Functions. Review regulatory requirements and Oversight Function operations to assess and challenge regulatory compliance risk assessments.

  • Strong Communications and Interpersonal Skills – Be able to utilize well developed interactive and interpersonal skills to convey complex concepts and nuances in relation to the Program to various levels within CIBC including executives. Support the development and review of training materials for the Program, as well as job aids and other communications, and along with Director, RCM, deliver training to CIBC employees. You have the ability to influence and interact with various levels within CIBC to further the effectiveness of the Program.

  • Client Focus – Build strong relationships with Oversight Function partners across the enterprise - across our wholly owned subsidiaries, business units and jurisdictions in which we operate. Be able to liaise with Oversight Functions on regulatory changes, providing support with the Program processes.

  • Thought Leadership – Conduct research and develop recommendations concerning Program best practices and standards that may be adopted at CIBC. You’ll perform analysis on the current regulatory compliance management libraries and data to derive insights for opportunities to enhance and strengthen the Program.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience in risk, compliance, legal or audit functions for a minimum of 5 years. You can also demonstrate experience in people change management with a minimum of 3 years. You have previous experience of working in the Financial industry and understand various lines of businesses, products, services, delivery channels and new technologies to understand and identify respective risks. You have a strong understanding of our Bank’s organization and operations.
