The Opportunity:

Under Sunwing Vacations, we are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join us in making vacation dreams come true. As the Senior Business Analyst, you will work within one or more Product streams with business and technology stakeholders to ensure alignment between business needs and technology projects, within an Agile SDLC framework. Working closely with the stream Product Owner, you will use business, technical, and communication skills to work with the Development team, Project sponsors, Business partners, and potentially vendors, analyzing and breaking down business problems and defining efficient solutions and processes that can be implemented. As a Senior Business Analyst, you are expected to be intimately familiar with the Agile SDLC framework and what being a Business Analyst (and even Product Owner) is all about, and be able to step in and take over Product Owner responsibilities as and when needed, working more as the Product Owner’s close partner rather than just another member within the team. You will be involved in ensuring business success for the Product streams, acting as an enabler for continual process improvement as well as in optimizing operations and workflows. The position reports to the Sr. Director, Application Development and will be located in Toronto, ON.

What You’ll Do:

  • Be very knowledgeable and experienced with the Agile SDLC framework and comfortable in being able to deliver software solutions to address business needs when called upon.
  • Be knowledgeable in the products and software solutions being delivered and maintained by the stream, and act as an internal Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Act as an authority of the overall team output being delivered, speaking on behalf of the Product Owner and stream when called upon.
  • Comfortable being the Product Owner “backup” when necessary, and ensuring high quality of service to the business users when called upon.
  • Suggest process improvements for optimizing and improving overall workflows and team delivery.
  • Brainstorming, evaluating business documents, data models, vendor analysis, use cases, business rules, scenarios, and data for functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Provide gap analysis, data-mapping, business process maps, flow charts, and relevant documentation.
  • Document current and future state business processes, automating where appropriate.
  • Make recommendations to the business on how they can optimize their business process to better achieve their objectives.
  • Report status of assigned BA activities as needed during the project’s system development life cycle.
  • Review and provide feedback on project artifacts to ensure needs and expectations are met.
  • Analyze functional & non-functional business requirements, translate requirements into documents, conceptual designs for changes or enhancements to business processes, data/information, information systems.
  • Provide mock-ups, write clear, concise criteria-based user stories with expected outcomes and acceptance criteria for development.
  • Consider all angles of requirements and highlight areas that may have been missed or in cases of oversight by other stakeholders.
  • Work with QA & Development teams to define business data requirements to support testing such as sample data for scenarios, review test results to ensure specifications/requirements have been met, communicate results to stakeholders, participate in bug review and oversee/approve overall testing.
  • Ensure solutions delivered meet expectations as well as interact with the stakeholders to simplify existing processes and streamline information flow.
  • Participate in the coordination of upgrades and rollout of applications ensuring end user and stakeholder engagement throughout planning and implementation.
  • Participate in initial training sessions related to solutions when required.

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience with Tour Operator/Airline/Hotel systems preferred.
  • Experience in business analysis, systems analysis, requirements definition, and deployment of business requirements.
  • Significant experience with Agile Software Development Life Cycles or Waterfall-style traditional Project approaches as and when required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving experience to deal with complex business problems.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments to meet deadlines; Project Management experience and experience working with many projects in parallel is a major asset.
  • Sense of initiative, self-discipline, and proactive thinking.
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; must be a team player with solid relationship management skills and a customer-centric approach.
  • Advanced communication and facilitation skills; comfort in writing Requirements and Documents for different stakeholders including Business-oriented or Technically-minded personnel (familiarity with MS Office and Visio-like tools is a must).
  • Aptitude to learn new systems or features combined with solid business acumen.
  • Working knowledge of APIs, SQL, XML, JSON, and HTML would be an asset; familiarity with technology concepts and data integrations is required.
  • Degree in a related discipline (e.g., B. Com, B.Eng. B.Sc.) or relevant combination of education and experience in a similar position.
  • IIBA Certification or similar considered an asset (CBAP, CCBA, ECBA, etc.).
