The Team
This position offers an exciting opportunity to be a part of a multidisciplinary team that is pioneering a new path forward in the delivery of services for children impacted by abuse and neglect. While this position will work closely with dedicated child protection social workers and team leaders from various teams, the position will be embedded at the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre located at 1815 Kirschner Road in Kelowna. The primary goal of the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre is to provide an integrated, “one stop shop”, where children who have been abused in Kelowna and area can receive the necessary services in a child and youth centered environment with an onsite multidisciplinary team that includes RCMP, MCFD, Victim Services, Advocates, and Health Care Professionals. This integrated approach empowers frontline agencies to work together to improve outcomes and build resilience for children, families, and community.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a role in a seamless, coordinated, and collaborative approach to addressing the needs of children who are victims of abuse and their non-offending family members. This position will work jointly and collaboratively with the RCMP to respond to and assess complex child protection reports that include severe physical abuse, severe neglect, and sexual abuse by a parent/caregiver. This position will also play a key role in mentoring child protection social workers and guiding them in delivering critical services to children, youth, and families. In this role, you will also act as a liaison for the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre and establish strong community partnerships to ensure that services meet the highest standards.
