Job title: Speech-Language Pathologist
Pay Scale: $ 47.383 - $ 55.745 per hour
Department: Children & Family Services
Reports to: Manager and Professional Practice Lead, First Words and Blind Low Vision

Employment Type:

We are hiring for the following two positions :

  • Regular Part-time, 30 hrs/week
  • Temporary Part-time, 30 hrs/week - 12 month contract

Job Summary

Provides speech and language services including assessment and treatment to children under 5 years of age with the aim of normalizing or enhancing the child’s communication.

Job Specific Responsibilities

  • Performs formal or informal assessments.
  • Recheck/reassess as per program protocols.
  • Provide regular, direct (group or individual) therapy.
  • Demonstration of key aspects of treatment.
  • Follow-up with families as required to implement, review, update or alter the treatment plan.
  • Prepare treatment summaries and progress reports.
  • Prepare discharge summary and consultation with appropriate parties.
  • Initiate and follow-up transition process as required.
  • Direct the work of the Communicative Disorders Assistant
  • Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of treatment, education, and health promotion programs and services for individuals, families and the community.
  • Schedule clients.
  • Forwards appropriate post-encounter information to First Words program.
  • SLPs in bilingual positions are expected to work in both official languages, the volume of which may fluctuate from time to time – i.e. more Francophone clients than Anglophone.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent.
  • Experience working with the preschool population.
  • Current CASLPO registration.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is preferred.
  • Successful completion of HANEN, It Takes Two to Talk and/or More Than Words trainings preferred.
