About Potash

The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometres east of Saskatoon. BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for late 2026.

Purpose

Reporting to Superintendent Technical Training, the Specialist Training IOC Control Room will be the key contributor to the training development, delivery and future assessments of the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) roles that will serve as remote operators for activities at the Jansen Mine.

Work Location

This role will be based in Downtown Saskatoon at BHP’s Corporate Office in the Integrated Control Centre. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP. This role will require regular travel to the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  1. Deliver training in BHP’s state of the art Integrated Operations Center (IOC)
  2. Design and deliver training plans, train and assess operators, and improve training programs to maintain safety, compliance and performance during mine operations
  3. Deliver training using state of the art tools and functions such as training simulators, Virtual reality (VR) and other systems.
  4. Conduct routine operational and safety activities to effectively prepare for and manage operational workload.
  5. Understand how to operate electronic or computerized control panel
  6. Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions by using BHP’s risk management framework.
  7. Identify, engage and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders

About You

Required

  1. Experience or familiarity with Control Room Operations, ideally in an IOC setting, encompassing Process Plant/Mill Operations
  2. Experience in the mine industry is preferred, with potash experience highly regarded
  3. Passionate about training and development, capable of communicating key messages to all levels of the audience
  4. Strong interpersonal skills, capable of inspiring others

Recommended

  1. Knowledge and experience with Delta V, SCADA, Training Simulators and real-time data platforms
  2. Adult Education Certificate or equivalent experience
  3. Education in one of the following areas: Controls System Technician, Power Engineering Certification, Process Engineer or Process Controls Engineer
