The Specialist, Training & Competency, is primarily responsible for supporting the development, implementation and continuous improvement of SECURE’s corporate Training and Competence Program which establishes training requirements and competency models and for the safe and effective operation of SECURE facilities.
The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
Manage the corporate Training and Competency Program through developing, implementing and maintaining technical training and competency structures, focused on hazard management and task execution, in alignment with SECURE’s management system requirements;
Develop, implement and maintain supporting processes and tools including master task lists, training matrices, assignment protocols, training modules and competency assessments;
Determine and procure external training courses and materials;
Engage corporate functions and operations business units to identify and address training and competency gaps;
Collaborate with corporate functions and operations business units on practical delivery method of training via a mixture of online and hands on training;
Conduct assurance activities and prioritize improvement opportunities to ensure the Training and Competency Program is fit for purpose;
Gather feedback from stakeholders, including trainers and trainees, to identify continuous improvement opportunities;
Ensure training and competency assessment data is documented and maintained as required;
Maintain the repository of training materials;
The individual in this role will have:
Post-secondary education in a related field, discipline or trade or related experience;
Minimum of 10 years’ experience creating training documentation and related learning materials: workbooks, facilitator guides, presentations, etc. and experience using a data management system similar or equivalent to an OMS
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a training and competency program development and implementation;
Direct change management experience/practices;
Exceptional listening and clarifying skills; must be able to produce tangible materials from concepts and/or verbal instruction;
Proven ability to communicate in a way that effectively influences and gains cooperation of fellow employees and leaders;
Ability to build, develop, and maintain relationships at various levels by providing exceptional service;
Proficient with MS Office;
Experience with facilitating and/or training, including exposure to long distance, web-based and virtual training would be considered an asset;
Previous experience in the oil and gas industry would be considered an asset.
