About your next challenge as Specialist, Trade Compliance:

The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for assisting the Trade Compliance Manager with the oversight, development, and maintenance of L3HARRIS MAS’s imports and exports of commodities, services, and technical data in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements set forth by Global Affairs, Department of Commerce, Canadian Border Services (CBSA), and Department of State (DOS) globally. This position will coordinate efforts to audit and verify that all shipment records are in compliance with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) along with Canadian & U.S Customs Regulations. The Trade Compliance Specialist will collaborate on all matters related to logistics & trade compliance. This role will require a strong working knowledge of import and export regulations, commodity classification skills using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), and Free-Trade Agreements along with excellent verbal and written communication.

What you will do:

  1. Ensure effective trade compliance practices are maintained globally in accordance with international import/export laws and regulations;
  2. Assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of L3HARRIS MAS’s trade compliance policies and procedures to keep L3HARRIS MAS’s Trade Compliance Manual up-to-date;
  3. Support the preparation and submission of license applications/requests for license approvals to government agencies;
  4. Provide regular guidance on HTS classification and Schedule B codes and maintain internal Commodity Code database with current classification revisions;
  5. Assist with requests for binding classification rulings, commodity classifications, and commodity jurisdictions;
  6. Assist with regular trade compliance audits to document and identify necessary post-summary corrections, process gaps, or training opportunities;
  7. Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally with all L3HARRIS MAS locations to streamline import and export processes;
  8. Coordinate efforts to implement effective change management when internal policies and procedures are updated across the impacted business units;
  9. Perform review and develop cross-functional KPIs linked with Trade compliance activities;
  10. Collaborate with L3HARRIS’s Global Trade Group on special projects on an as-needed basis;
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experiences:

  1. 1 to 3 years of trade compliance or relevant experience required;
  2. Excellent working knowledge of EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and U.S. Customs Regulations;
  3. Strong attention to detail to read, interpret, and apply government regulations with company policies;
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  5. Competency in Microsoft Office applications with strength in Excel;
  6. Experience working in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and/or other automated compliance solutions;
  7. Ability to work independently with verbal or written instructions;
  8. Experience in training and technical procedure writing/development;
  9. Able to work well in a fast-paced environment;
  10. Ability to develop an understanding of L3HARRIS’s products and services.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  2. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
  3. Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
