Job description

The Global Sustainability team is looking for a Specialist, Sustainability Reporting and Disclosure to play a key role in the development of Manulife’s sustainability reporting, including our annual Sustainability Report, Public Accountability Statement, and other ESG-related disclosures. In addition, the specialist will collaborate with stakeholders to help drive Manulife’s sustainability disclosure and performance. In this role, you will join a wonderful team of diverse sustainability and social impact professionals, working with colleagues across the company to drive progress against our sustainability strategy.

Responsibilities:

  1. Play a critical role in the management, preparation, governance and delivery of our sustainability reporting and disclosures, including Manulife’s annual Sustainability Report.
  2. Research and analyze evolving sustainability reporting standards and prepare recommendations for the team.
  3. Monitor and assess evolving regulatory requirements and industry developments regarding sustainability reporting.
  4. Support the content development and enhancement of ESG-related disclosures to meet increasing regulatory and reporting requirements (e.g., ISSB).
  5. Prepare and support Manulife’s responses to ESG raters and rankers including MSCI, S&P, CDP, Sustainalytics, Corporate Knights among others.
  6. Perform ongoing disclosure analysis for sustainability reporting against priority reporting methodologies.
  7. Support the team in enhancing reporting and governance practices to align with our evolving sustainability reporting strategy.
  8. Collaborate and support internal stakeholders during reporting cycles.
  9. Research and analysis requests as assigned.
  10. Participate in technical training and development opportunities.

Requirements:

  1. Post secondary education, ideally with a focus on sustainability, corporate responsibility or a related field.
  2. Experience in corporate sustainability.
  3. Knowledge and/or experience with the voluntary sustainability reporting frameworks (i.e. SASB, GRI) and regulatory frameworks (OSFI B15, ISSB).
  4. Experience preparing disclosures and responses to rating agencies such as MSCI, DJSI and CDP considered an asset.
  5. Excellent research, writing and synthesizing skills with the ability to communicate complex information succinctly.
  6. Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  7. Strong people skills with ability to develop and maintain relationships internally and externally.
  8. Excellent project management skills.
  9. Experience working at a financial institution an asset.
