YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Manager, Communications Ontario Region, you will be part of the Communications Department. You will be responsible for supporting the Ontario Communications team to enhance Agnico Eagle Mine’s public image and reputation by coordinating and executing communication initiatives and campaigns aimed at external audiences located in Northern Ontario. You will require a solid understanding of media relations, crisis communication, stakeholder engagement, brand key messaging, and digital channels to ensure that Agnico Eagle’s goals and key messages are effectively communicated across various platforms aimed at driving positive media coverage and public perception. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Media Relations:
- Maintain strong relationships with media contacts and outlets to secure positive coverage for the organization;
- Create and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other media communications to ensure effective messaging;
- Monitor and analyze media coverage to assess the effectiveness of media strategies and identify opportunities for further engagement.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Execute communication strategies that foster positive relationships with external partners, community groups, and industry stakeholders;
- Support the implementation of communication plans to keep external partners informed of organizational developments, events, and initiatives;
- Support the development and maintenance of external partnerships through regular communication and collaboration.
- Crisis Communication:
- Support crisis communication efforts by developing timely and clear messaging during high-pressure situations;
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure that crisis communication initiatives align with overall company objectives and are executed swiftly and effectively;
- Monitor ongoing situations to adapt communication strategies as needed.
- External Events Coordination:
- Provide support for the planning and execution of external events;
- Work closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure all logistical and communication aspects of the event are aligned with company goals and messaging;
- Develop event-specific communication materials, such as invitations, speeches, and press kits, to ensure consistent and effective messaging;
- Ensure the organization’s presence at external events is well-coordinated and communicates a clear and cohesive message to the target audience.
- Social Media Channels:
- Manage the organization’s presence on social media platforms, including content creation, strategy, and community engagement;
- Execute social media campaigns to enhance public awareness of key messages, initiatives, and events;
- Monitor social media channels for trends, feedback, and mentions;
- Collaborate with the communications team to ensure that social media strategies align with broader communication goals.
- Content Creation:
- Write clear, concise, and engaging content for press releases, speeches, blogs, articles, and other external communication materials;
- Ensure all external communications align with the company’s brand voice, tone, and key messaging;
- Write content to maintain a consistent and positive public image for the organization.
- Reporting and Analysis:
- Track and measure the success of media outreach, external events, and social media efforts, providing regular reports and analysis to leadership;
- Adjust communication initiatives based on insights from media coverage, stakeholder feedback, and social media metrics.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Marketing;
- 5-7 years of experience in traditional media and social media management field;
- Solid experience in the implementation of external communications programs;
- Experience in coordinating events;
- Knowledge of the communities in which we operate is an asset;
- Experience in the mining industry is an asset;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule:
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday a combination of teleworking with presence at our offices in either Timmins Regional Office or Sudbury. Occasional visits to site and Ontario communities may also be required;
- Flexibility in work hours to accommodate events.
