JOB SUMMARY:

This role will create and implement strategies for business continuity to ensure resilience and recovery from disruptions. Responsibilities include managing activities such as risk assessment, impact analysis, strategy development, implementation, testing, review, and plan maintenance. It oversees the validation and testing of business continuity plans, develops training programs, and creates communication strategies. The position also collaborates with stakeholders to integrate emergency and business continuity principles into SaskPower's overall strategy.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Implements the design, development, implementation, and maintenance components of the Business Continuity Program, processes/procedures, models, and tools that enable more effective emergency preparedness and resiliency.
  • Leads corporate wide contingency planning and business continuity program.
  • Establishes framework and methodology for completion of contingency plans by internal business units.
  • Conducts risk assessments to identify threats to business operations.
  • Collaborates with various departments to align continuity efforts with overall business goals.
  • Coordinates training, communication, and testing of plans.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of Business Continuity programs by conducting research and analysis and recommends strategies for program enhancements and to improve alignment with industry best practices.
  • Develops, implements, and delivers key program projects including training, exercises, and program audits.
  • Conducts data and trend analysis for major incident response to identify areas for response improvement.
  • Summarizes information for review by key stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains reporting mechanisms to support business continuity program.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Science, Journeyed Trade or other related equivalent AND/OR;
  • Related professional Business Continuity designation(s) and/or certification(s).
  • Five years of related experience in developing organizational business continuity programs and emergency management.
  • Experience with business continuity management, emergency management and the Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Knowledge of relevant emergency management/preparedness legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Excellent research, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Strong data management skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong computer skills, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong planning, analytical and organizational skills, including the proven ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment and manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated influence and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Experience in compiling and presenting reports.

A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
