About us:
The African, Caribbean, Black Family Group Conferencing (ACB-FGC) project, soon to be rebranded as the “Black Mediation Centre,” supports the wellbeing of African, Caribbean and Black (ACB) children, families and youth by delivering culturally responsive alternate dispute resolution (ADR) services. ACB-FGC was established in 2018 in partnership with the Metro Action Committee on Violence Against Women (METRAC), and Black Creek Community Health Centre through a catalyst grant from the Law Foundation of Ontario. Our model builds from standard FGC and mediation models to meet the distinct needs of ACB children, youth and families.


Your opportunity:
The mission of ACB-FGC is to deliver culturally responsive Family Group Conferencing and mediation to ACB families and youth in the Toronto area. Under the direction of the Principal Investigators (PIs), the Special Projects and Operations Manager will be an experienced leader responsible for transforming this project into a non-profit organization.


Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners.
  2. Cultivating ongoing, high-profile prospective partnerships.
  3. Leading the development and making recommendations for policy, procedures and best practices.
  4. Developing charter, scope, resources and schedule for projects.
  5. Implementing a communications plan to keep stakeholders informed.
  6. Writing funding proposals and grant applications.
  7. Planning and estimating financial resources required for programs/projects.
  8. Directing the activities of a single ongoing staff-appointed employee.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in business or relevant field; or acceptable combination of education and experience.
  2. Six to seven years demonstrated experience in external relations, strategic community development, or stakeholder relations.
  3. Experience in project planning, budgeting, and team leadership.
  4. Demonstrated experience in process/project development and execution.
  5. Proficiency in securing grants.
  6. Experience supervising staff, preferably in a unionized environment.
  7. Experience in the entrepreneurial ecosystem with start-ups or not-for-profit organizations.
  8. Advanced skills with MS 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  9. Exceptional project management skills.
  10. Exemplary relationship management and interpersonal skills.

Assets (Nonessential):
Experience leading a non-profit organization in a related field.
