Position Overview:

The Material Sourcing Specialist is responsible for building and maintaining vendor relationships and negotiating materials (fabric and trim) costs/minimum/lead-time/capacity. The Material Sourcing Specialist works closely with Material Development, Procurement and Capacity Planning teams to develop effective costing strategies for raw materials each season. They will lead the efforts in material consolidations, partnering with cross functional teams for delivery and quality performance while maintaining high quality standards of CG products. They will work closely with Material Development and Procurement team in the onboarding process and training of new suppliers, as well as in the exiting process of existing suppliers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with the VP of Sourcing, Director of Sourcing, Finance, and Material Development to develop seasonal raw material costing strategies for assigned suppliers.
  • Assist in negotiating raw material costs, minimums, lead times, capacity, purchasing terms, and supplier contracts in alignment with procurement policies.
  • Monitor forecasting deadlines and proactively identify items or suppliers with potential capacity constraints.
  • Collaborate with Material and Product Development, Procurement, and Replenishment Planning teams to build contingency plans for materials or suppliers that cannot support forecasted volumes or anticipated growth.
  • Help manage supplier relationships and engage with a broad set of internal stakeholders to ensure alignment across cost, quality, capacity, and delivery expectations.
  • Maintain open, consistent communication with Procurement, Color Team, Material Quality, Product Development, QA, and Production teams on all issues related to supplier performance and material sourcing.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new suppliers and support the offboarding process for outgoing vendors.
  • Track and support supplier performance using scorecards and performance management tools.
  • Identify and contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance sourcing efficiency and vendor performance.

Let's Talk About You:

  • Previous experience in material development, testing, sourcing role.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Purchasing/Procurement/Sourcing responsibilities.
  • Hands-on experience in leading strategic sourcing initiatives, managing projects, contracts and vendors.
  • Microsoft office (particularly Excel).
  • Previous experience with Dynamic/another ERP System and PLM.
  • Knowledge of textile and garment construction.
  • Excellent Analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required for frequent communication with overseas suppliers.
