Sourcing and Procurement Specialist – Mining & Construction

Location: Oakville, ON (Remote Candidates Considered)
Reports To: Head of Procurement

Role Overview

We are seeking a Sourcing and Procurement Specialist to optimize procurement processes and strengthen supplier relationships. This role is ideal for an experienced procurement professional—or someone eager to transition into a GPO environment—who thrives on strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing & Procurement

  • Identify and engage with suppliers to meet member organization needs.
  • Conduct market research to uncover cost-saving opportunities and optimize procurement strategies.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to drive value for GPO members.
  • Build and maintain a reliable supplier base for quality and cost-effective solutions.

Supplier & Member Relationship Management

  • Develop long-term partnerships with key suppliers.
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance to ensure quality and service standards.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between members and suppliers, aligning procurement solutions with member needs.

Contract Management

  • Manage the full lifecycle of procurement contracts, ensuring compliance with terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
  • Collaborate with legal and finance teams to mitigate contract risks.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Track procurement metrics, including cost savings, supplier performance, and member satisfaction.
  • Analyze procurement data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare reports and insights for internal and external stakeholders.

What You Bring

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
Experience: 3-5 years in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management (mining industry preferred).
Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and contract management abilities.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and analytical tools.
  • Familiarity with mining industry standards and regulations is a plus.
  • Work Style: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or in a team.
