Team Overview:

On the telemetry platform team we build solutions that process and provide insights in near real-time from the largest data sets in the world. Whether for Microsoft operated services or countless services that are hosted on Azure, we provide the capabilities that enable rapid insight into behavior at scale.

Our team develops a system that delivers:

• Low latency data ingestion and processing capability
• Efficient time series compression and storage
• Scalable query capabilities across large datasets
• An innovative time series optimized query language

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Software Engineer II who is passionate about distributed systems and building high-scale services.

• Writes well-crafted, well-tested, readable and maintainable code.
• Use data-driven approach to build operational insights and drive operational excellence.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, estimate development efforts, and design and implement software solutions.
• Develop software applications, systems, and services that drive are performant and scalable.
• Conduct code reviews, perform unit and integration testing, and troubleshoot issues to ensure software quality.
• Enjoys the challenge of pushing big data to real-time latencies.
• Loves new technological challenges and excels at solving them.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• Proficient design, coding in Java, C# or C++, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Passion for customers and focus on delivering delightful customer experiences.
• Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to effectively collaborate across teams and ship production features in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in developing cloud services.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $83,600 - CAD $159,600 per year.
