Job Summary

Professional Development Services (PDS) provides advanced technical services and engineering assistance to our customers, including our global network of distributors, OEM clients, and Direct Accounts. For each project, we work closely with the customer to develop the exact solution they need, either by customizing existing Delta products or by creating innovative new solutions.

The position being offered includes providing the following services:

1. Sales consultation and solution conceptualization
2. System integration assistance (BACnet, Modbus, Node-Red, other building control protocols, room booking software, ODBC interfaces)
3. Controller embedded software modifications

As an Intermediate Software Developer within our PDS team, your skills will allow you to customize or modify our existing web-based facilities management software, create custom add-ons, and develop software modules to integrate with other applications.

Your experience with front and back-end web programming allows you to create innovative, effective, and easy-to-use applications that exceed the expectations of the customer. Working knowledge of Delta Controls embedded software is an asset.

Work Location: In-office environment that is currently 3 days per week
City: Surrey
Type: full-time, Permanent
Salary: $80,000 - $90,000

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target payable for the base salary of new hires across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside this range and is dependent on various factors.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The candidate is a solution-focused individual who is comfortable working with both internal and external contacts. In your role, you will:

1. Evaluate the feasibility of requests
2. Ensure projects are completed to a high quality with minimal errors
3. Work with Team Lead to layout, design, and architect projects
4. Provide input into project scopes and project estimates
5. Complete projects with minimal supervision
6. Provide support for projects the Professional Development Services group has completed
7. Continually add to your understanding of software development methods and technologies
8. Demonstrate a productivity level that our customers have come to expect

Secondary Duties

As part of the PDS team, the Intermediate Software Developer may be called upon to assist in providing other PDS services as the need arises. These services may include:

1. Technical Support
2. Documentation
3. Travel to site
4. Any other duties that may be required for the successful operation of the PDS Enterprise

Desirable Qualifications

1. Experience integrating web services and APIs using JSON
2. Experience with NestJS
3. Experience working on embedded solutions
4. Experience with databases and object-relational mapping
5. Experience with Zend Framework and MVC architecture
6. Experience using source control repositories such as Git
7. Knowledge of HVAC systems and how they operate

Minimum Qualifications

1. A minimum of 2 years applied experience as a software developer
2. Degree or Technical Certification from an accredited Electronics Engineering, Computer Sciences, or Web Technologies program, or equivalent experience
3. Experience using web technologies including React, PHP, RDBMS, and TypeScript to create responsive websites
4. Strong communication skills including verbal, written, and drawing/visual techniques
5. Ability to work independently, and quickly change focus between multiple projects
6. Self-driven and results-oriented
7. Strong creative skills and attention to detail
8. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and be flexible in a demanding environment
