Position Summary:

Mold-Masters is looking for a Software Controls Engineer to join our team in Georgetown, ON. As a Software Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying new and existing software control systems for Mold-Masters products based on business goals. This involves research into advanced control algorithm design, selection of the appropriate software and hardware, code design, code testing, debugging, and production implementation.

Work You’ll Do:

• Perform control equipment research and research into controls methods and technologies.
• Design and develop specifications and software selection to support initiatives for new control systems.
• Design, develop, and improve software using PLC, embedded firmware microcontroller architecture for existing products.
• Develop procedures and user instructions for all processes related to software and control systems.
• Document coding development and testing completed.
• Work with production areas to enhance quality of products and solicit/develop new ideas on control systems.
• Act as a mentor to software controls engineering group.
• Make recommendations for productivity and/or method improvements.
• Occasionally visit customer sites to troubleshoot products and provide solutions relating to new products.
• Meet productivity objectives and ensure ISO guidelines are followed.

Team:

The Software Controls Engineer will provide support for R&D operations in the creation of new products, optimizing and improving existing control systems, and help to quickly identify and resolve problems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with .NET, IEC 1131, C#, and graphical user interfaces.
• Experience with PLC programming, servo drive control, and Industrial Ethernet.
• Familiar with electrical design and troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with C and C++ programming languages.
• Familiarity with B&R, Bosch, and Keba controls.
