Job description

On behalf of our Public Sector Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for a Software Audit Specialist to join our Client's team on a 12-month contract basis. This role is Hybrid (2 days onsite per week, no remote work) and the Client is based in Burnaby, BC.


Summary of the Role

The Software Audit Specialist ensures software compliance by leading data reconciliation, audit defense, and licensing optimization. This role works with application and infrastructure teams to facilitate informed decision-making and cost-effective licensing strategies while ensuring adherence to contract requirements.


Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Perform data reconciliation and remediation to ensure accuracy and quality.
  2. Facilitate collaboration between application and infrastructure teams to optimize licensing and contract compliance.
  3. Lead responses to software audits initiated by publishers, developing defense strategies and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  4. Analyze and assess software licensing models, identifying cost-saving opportunities and compliance risks.
  5. Provide strategic guidance on architectural and infrastructure decisions impacting software licensing.

Core Requirements

  1. 5–10 years of experience managing software compliance, including contract negotiation.
  2. Strong knowledge of infrastructure and architectural design concepts impacting software licensing.
  3. Experience leading software audits and/or audit defense in complex technology environments.
  4. Proficiency with data analysis techniques and tools to assess effective license positions.
  5. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders.

Desired Skills & Experience

  1. Experience working in large corporate environments.
  2. Familiarity with enterprise-scale software asset management tools.
  3. Understanding of cloud-based licensing models and their compliance implications.
  4. Previous experience supporting regulatory or contractual compliance efforts.
  5. Strong analytical skills for identifying inefficiencies in software licensing.

Terms

This is a 12-month contract with a strong possibility of extension. The successful candidate must provide their own laptop and complete required security checks before starting.
