Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)

Position: Intermediate Software Analyst in Testing

The Intermediate Software Analyst in Testing is responsible for ensuring the quality of software delivery for large scale rail signaling projects. The candidate will work with other software developers and systems engineers to create, execute and evaluate in-house software tests and test plans. As part of the software delivery team, the candidate will gain experience in rail signaling and CBTC and develop a deep understanding of both the signaling systems and rail operation.

Key Responsibilities

Technical:

1. Performs analysis of system, subsystem and software requirements to define validation methods, and test cases.
2. Develops and maintains test plans, procedures and test cases. Prepares test reports for pass and fail status of tests and identifies root cause of failures reported during testing.
3. Development of test automation.
4. Investigates test anomalies through analysis of data files, design documentation and cooperation with project team members.
5. Conduct operational and stress-test (bust-it) scenarios.
6. Conduct testing in laboratory environment and on desktop simulation environment.
7. Effectively communicate test observation and results to engineering staff, supervisors and customers.
8. Adhere to the company's Processes and Work Instructions.
9. Acquire product knowledge through active participation in formal, and on-the-job training, as well as self-study.

Non-Technical:

1. Work on several projects consecutively and demonstrate ability to deliver on time and on-budget.
2. Work effectively cross-functional teams and build long-term working relationships with others.
3. Work independently, planning, prioritizing and scheduling own work.
4. Continuously seek and propose improvements to methods and processes utilized for testing.

Safety:

1. Promote a safety culture where product safety is paramount.
2. Ensure that safety is built into the test strategy by early identification and resolution of safety-related defects.

Required Skills and Experience

1. B.Sc. in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
2. 3+ years of relevant software testing or development experience.
3. Working knowledge of C, C++, Perl, or Python.
4. Strong planning and organization skills.
5. Strong technical writing and interpersonal communication skills.
6. Demonstrated fluency and understanding/comprehension in oral and written English.
7. Experience with modern software development methodology, processes, and tools (Agile, SCRUM, DevOps).
8. Office software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Skills and Experience

1. Experience working in regulated industries: rail signaling, aerospace, or medical systems.
2. Experience with real-time systems and embedded system testing.
3. Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, wireless communication (802.11, LTE).
4. Knowledge of transit rail system and particularly SELTRAC products is a significant asset.
