Job Description - Socio-Economic Specialist (Intermediate) - Burnaby, Victoria, Whitehorse (AUS0009G0)

Our team in Canada is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Socio-Economic Specialist to join our Assessment, Social, and Ecology line in the Burnaby office.

About the role:

  1. Prepares socio-economic related materials, including baseline reports, impact assessments and other similar types of deliverables;
  2. Writes technical reports;
  3. Analyses and interprets data;
  4. Contributes to proposal writing;
  5. Participates in community engagement sessions with Indigenous Nations and stakeholder groups;
  6. Prepares well researched and written deliverables, in accordance with provincial, territorial and/or federal regulatory requirements, best practices, and/or any preferences or protocols identified by respective Indigenous Nations;
  7. Manages the coordination, organization, and delivery of socio-cultural research programs and related community engagement;
  8. Participates in the development of socio-economic mitigation and enhancement measures and management plans.

Qualifications

About you:

  1. The right candidates will have a degree in social sciences, natural resource management, geography, environmental assessment, or related field of study. Suitable professional and technical experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  2. We are looking for people with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in socio-economic impact, community health or related fields. Depending on your years of experience, senior positions will be considered.
  3. Our team members have a solid understanding of environmental assessment legislation, regulations, and guidelines in a Canadian context.
  4. We also have knowledge of and experience in the application of analytical methods used to support socio-economic assessments, such as economic input-output modelling, health impact assessment, and gender-based analysis plus (GBA+).
  5. Our team uses excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  6. Candidates should bring demonstrated research, analysis, and technical writing skills, including gathering and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data.
  7. Candidates should consider their knowledge of or experience in:
    1. Working with federal and provincial statistics;
    2. Participatory action research methods and approaches;
    3. Project management, multi-tasking, and thriving under tight timelines;
    4. Producing high quality deliverables that stand up to public scrutiny;
    5. Showing the ability to be highly organized and working independently while contributing to a larger team goal;
    6. Working with Indigenous Nations in western Canada and/or communities across Canada;
    7. The right candidates will be willing to travel, as required.

Salary range: $65,000 - $85,000

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
