REPORTS TO: Marketing Specialist

LOCATION: Initial Placement – Wincey Mills


General Purpose:

  • To provide programming support for all social media platforms belonging to the Corporate Communications and Marketing Division.
  • To provide support to the Communications and Marketing Division by creating engaging, positive, and relevant content for social media platforms and communication channels.
  • To assist with maintaining promotional material at various County locations.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Primarily, this role will create stories to share with the community to build positive relationships. This may include stories about citizens, businesses, landmarks, features etc. The preferred method to deliver this content is via short videos, photographs and social media content.
  • This role involves the acquiring of pertinent and appropriate positive and interesting marketable information, photographs and stories that would be used to promote the County of Brant using social media.
  • This role involves actively engaging the existing audience/market following the social media channels of the County by posting both real-time and pre-programmed posts.
  • The role would also involve assisting with the growth of the social media audiences by effectively implementing new engagement tactics.
  • Engage the community in a positive and professional manner through the creation of content including videos, social media, and photography.
  • Maintain County kiosks with relevant information on a regular basis.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Must have extensive knowledge of social media platforms, content creation, and community engagement tactics.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Excellent customer service skills, political acuity, social media etiquette and attention to detail are required.
  • A strong work ethic and creativity are an asset.
  • Ability to create and edit short videos.
  • Knowledge of multi-channel control platforms would be considered an asset (i.e. Hootsuite, Tweet Deck).
  • Knowledge of effective smartphone photography & video technique.
  • Knowledge and experience in using effective social media tagging techniques.
  • Knowledge of the County of Brant and its major visitor assets, destinations and special events would be considered an asset.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with Survey Monkey data gathering tools would be considered an asset.
  • Valid Driver’s License and use of a reliable vehicle, and acceptable Driver’s Abstract required.

Education:

Enrolled in a post-secondary school with a focus on communication, community engagement, public relations, or marketing is an asset.

Duration:

May to August (35 hours/week)

Hourly Rate:

$21.88 (2024)
