Better Business Bureau serving Mainland BC (BBB) is looking for a passionate Social Media & Events Coordinator. Working directly with the marketing and communications team, you will support the department by managing various social media and marketing activities for the organization, as well as executing a wide range of consumer and business engagement events. You are a positive individual, organized, able to multitask efficiently to meet tight deadlines, and a champion for the BBB brand everywhere you go.
You will report to the Director, Marketing & Communications.
Responsibilities & Expectations
Working in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Director, design and execute the social media strategy for the BBB:
- Manage all BBB social media platforms from content creation to copywriting, to community management.
- Develop and edit digital content for social platforms (creating graphics, taking photos, and short phone videos).
- Manage social media advertising, monitoring results and adjusting ad strategy as necessary.
- Monitor and track results, adjusting strategy as required.
Working in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Director, design and execute the events strategy for the BBB:
- Develop an events plan for businesses and consumers (webinars and in-person events).
- Manage event execution (promotion, ticket sales, venue/event logistics, on-site management, and post-event report analysis).
- Manage BBB office bookings for co-working or private events and help promote the space.
- Organize BBB representation at third-party events and BBB events.
- Develop and manage the Torch Awards Program and the BBB Annual General Meeting.
- Research business and consumer event opportunities and help coordinate team attendance.
- Create and disseminate event information to businesses and members of the public.
- Create presentation decks for events and presentations.
- Coordinate, schedule, and manage event volunteers.
- Work with national colleagues and partners on campaigns.
- Manage design, development (printing, etc.) of BBB marketing materials.
- Present BBB materials at business and consumer education events.
- Support communications team with administrative and reporting duties, such as arranging meetings, managing agendas and minutes, reporting MarComm metrics and KPIs.
- Support launch, design, and execution of new BBB programs.
- Implement and execute partnerships in conjunction with Communications & Community Specialist.
- Assist the BBB in achieving business objectives including membership growth and retention through events and social media strategy.
- Assist the BBB in achieving overall impact through events and social media strategy.
Experience and Abilities:
- 2+ years in social media management and communications.
- 2+ years in small event management.
- Some travel will be required (reliable transportation to and from events).
- Occasional evenings and weekends will be required.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Google Docs, online applications, social media tools, and design abilities.
- Ability to develop digital assets (social media posts, marketing materials, videos).
- Use of Canva and other online programs to facilitate such asset development.
- Well-organized with a customer-first engagement approach and a can-do attitude.
- Demonstrable ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills (including an attention to detail, grammar, and spelling).
- Good understanding of office management and marketing principles.
