As a community engagement leadership volunteer, you will be part of our committees of 10 to 15 volunteers who will work over the months to help us organize our fundraising events. Depending on the needs in your community, available roles could include committee lead, logistics, community outreach, volunteer lead, and social media.
Description
As the Social Media Coordinator you will be responsible for:
Executing a social media campaign that promotes Relay For Life and CCS and communicates the importance of Relay within your community, driving participation and support.
Using approved provincial/national materials and branding to create awareness in your immediate community via multiple social marketing platforms.
Posting on all social media accounts (at minimum, Facebook).
Building the following of these social media accounts.
Working with the Communication Lead to execute a social and traditional media coordinated campaign.
Why we need you
At CCS we are committed to improving the cancer experience by helping people with cancer live their lives more fully. The Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life brings together communities united by the same goal of creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer. Relay is an opportunity to celebrate those who live and have lived in the face of cancer.
What we're looking for
As the Social Media Coordinator you understand the power compelling stories have to inspire.
You are motivated to help raise funds by increasing community awareness with the goal to build larger community involvement.
You know how to communicate ideas clearly and write effectively.
You are organized, social media savvy and ready to do your best to build an understanding of the importance of Relay with everyone you connect with.
Our Investment
As an organization, we will provide you with online resources, training and support to help you lead the Social Media portfolio. You will also be supported by the Communication Lead and the Relay Director, Community Engagement, a fellow volunteer, who will oversee all aspects around bringing more community members to Relay.
You will be part of the larger Relay community and have opportunity to learn and mentor as you engage with CCS staff and volunteers.
Your commitment
This is an important leadership role. We are anticipating an ongoing level of commitment which will include regular monthly meetings with the entire committee.
Between committee meetings you will be researching media opportunities, exploring the available CCS materials and initiating a comprehensive media plan that is crucial for a successful event.
You will communicate consistently and regularly with the Relay Director, Community Engagement and other members of the team, including the Communication Lead.
As the event date approaches your time commitment will increase. On event day your leadership, as you continue to connect with the media and other partners, will be critical in creating the sense of accomplishment that everyone will go home with, knowing that their actions have created something bigger than cancer.
