Reporting to the Facility and Maintenance Supervisor, the Skilled Trades performs reactive, assigned, and preventative maintenance on all production and supporting equipment within the facility. The Skilled Trades diagnoses, troubleshoots, and provides mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic/control system support on all equipment.
The Role
- Assembles, disassembles, installs, repairs, and/or fabricates as needed to maintain machinery, equipment, spare parts, tooling, change-parts, or facility in accordance to technical manuals/schematics/blueprints/SOPs/standard practices/experience/site resources/OEM resources as needed.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots both mechanical and/or control problems and corrects as required in accordance to technical manuals/schematics/blueprints/SOPs/standard practices/experience/site resources/OEM resources as needed.
- Completes system support work (fuse changes, contactor resets, temperature controller adjustments, calibrations, PLCs, etc.) as trained; completes documentation (work orders, PMs, calibration forms, validation documents, etc.) to cGMP/SOP standards.
- Complies with PM, SOP, cGMP, and regulatory requirements.
- Executes assigned PMs and work orders as scheduled on time; supports on-site contractors as necessary for PM or project activity.
- Updates the CMMS with the required information.
- Maintains tools, toolboxes, and shop areas in compliance with cGMP/SOP standards; Maintain all utilities needed to support the manufacturing lines including steam boilers, Purified Water System and Liquid Nitrogen system.
- Collaborate with team to proactively assess ways to reduce downtime on the manufacturing line and ensure 24/day operation.

The Candidate
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
- Completion of Tradesman and Qualification Act requirements.
- Licensed by Ministry of Skills and Development - Required.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures; Knowledge of First Aid and CPR an asset.
- Experience in the following; Shop tools, lathe, mills, grinders, drill presses, precision measurement instruments, power tools, technical manuals/schematics/blueprints, controllers, PLC & HMI, PID, calibration, and engineering drawings.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (both verbal and written); ability to work independently, as required to complete daily activities according to schedule.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills; attention to detail coupled with a sense of urgency.
- Basic computer skills to allow for electronic maintenance task documentation.
- Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation confirming the Canadian equivalency of the credentials as determined by the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC) such as WES.
- While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, bend or twist, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee is required to stand for long periods of time and occasionally bend and lift.
- This role is required is to be clean shaven to wear a respirator, which is deemed mandatory to meet Health & Safety requirements.
