The Opportunity
Fillmore Construction is looking to welcome an experienced Site Safety Coordinator to join our team in Kelowna, BC. The Site Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in promoting and maintaining a safe and compliant work environment on our construction sites. This position combines proactive field presence with essential administrative responsibilities, ensuring the highest safety standards are consistently met. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform daily safety inspections as outlined in the Fillmore Health and Safety Program.
- Help facilitate claims management and return to work processes.
- Collect information on the trade workforce present on the site for submission to the head office.
- Attend and contribute to the weekly Site and monthly Corporate Safety Meetings.
- Perform daily functions regarding the paperwork required by the Fillmore Health and Safety Manual.
- Be proactive to complete administrative tasks to spend more time in the field, maintain field presence - 80% of day.
- Ensure Site orientation of all workers and all other site personnel as designated by the Site Superintendent.
- During site inspections, liaise, communicate, meet with, and respond to the BC WorkSafe Inspectors.
- Ensure maintenance of safety barriers and guardrails.
- Attend and participate in training sessions to increase competency and awareness around all issues of safety pertaining to Fillmore operations.
- Complete daily, documented and comprehensive inspections of the site to ensure that safety standards are being met and report back all exceptions to the Site Superintendent and be accountable for action to correct such exceptions.
- Site administration duties as time and individual skills allow.
Skills and Abilities Requirements:
- Working knowledge of computer systems and commonly used software and databases as it relates to Safety.
- Ability to communicate, liaise and work in conjunction with Site Personnel. Able to demonstrate active listening skills.
- Strong knowledge of WorkSafe BC Regulations and Procedures.
- Ability to conduct orientations for Site Visitors and Site Workers.
- Strong interpersonal skills organized and proactive in safe production.
- Ability to carry out Site Incident and Accident Investigations and prepare reports required by the authority having jurisdiction.
- Ability to manage the Safety risk of Trade Contractors.
- Ability to carry out comprehensive Safety related inspections on building construction projects, daily.
Education and Experience:
- Construction: 5 years (required).
- Certification as a Construction Safety Officer (CSO).
- Advanced First Aid Certification.
- 5 years of related work experience.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Wage: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift.
- Overtime (from time to time, as required).
