Job description

The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada’s largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil.

Greenstone Mine is seeking a Short-Term Planning Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, the Short-Term Planning Engineer is responsible for the overall short-term planning of the mine production schedules.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  1. Collaboratively develop the two weeks plan with a wide range of stakeholders.
  2. Facilitate daily production meetings, directing team focus toward variance and plan compliance.
  3. Oversee the survey and drilling/blasting activities to coordinate and prioritize the planning goals.
  4. Provide commentary on weekly and monthly performance.
  5. Optimize plans and schedules for pit operations to maximize production.
  6. Work with the Mine Operations Senior Supervisor of the mine to ensure equipment is located appropriately.
  7. Undertake projects (ex. equipment selection) as directed and complete them within timelines and to the standards.
  8. Assist in any other job which is regarded as necessary for the smooth running of mining operations as decided by the Engineering Superintendent or the Senior Mine Planning Engineer.
  9. Provide input into the design and development of mining processes, procedures, and engineering best practices.
  10. Monitor the work of mining activities by reviewing the state of progress on compliance plans and specifications issued and analyzing the results of completed work.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  1. Degree in Mining Engineering.
  2. Formal professional designation in the appropriate area of expertise, or eligible to apply for a professional license.
  3. Minimum of 3-4 years working experience in the mining industry.
  4. Excellent knowledge of 3D mine planning and design software including Deswik is an asset.
  5. Demonstrated good supervisory skills.
  6. Valid driver’s license.

LOCATION
This position will be on a rotation (14/14) based at the mine site in Geraldton, Ontario.

Greenstone Mine provides company transportation from multiple pick-up point locations.
