Weyerhaeuser's (Engineered Lumber Products) Timberstrand manufacturing Plant, located on beautiful Lake of the Woods in Kenora, Ontario, is currently seeking a permanent Shipping Supervisor. Our plant manufactures the high strength engineered wood product Timberstrand in a 24/7 operations, non-union, manufacturing environment. Responsibilities:

  • Safely improving throughput and reliability
  • Promotes and demonstrates a strong focus on safety at all times.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional approach with all drivers, visitors, and fellow employees.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate shipping department personnel.
  • Maintain high safety and housekeeping standards for area of responsibility.
  • Interact with sales and logistics to coordinate shipments and deliveries.
  • Process paperwork accurately and procedurally correct for outgoing shipments.
  • Oversee loading and unloading of trucks and centerbeam.
  • Maintain equipment, warehouse inventory, packaging, and shipping supplies.
  • SJI/OJI development/review/approval in their specific area
  • Area Housekeeping & Participation in Housekeeping Audits
  • Equipment Reliability (Area function and process for proficiency)
  • Work Orders/PM’s/Backlog Management– Work with Maintenance to set the priorities of their specific area
  • Projects & System Development
  • Set area goals and expectations and drive accountability.
  • Continuous Improvement Plan and execution (Area function and enhanced productivity)
  • Management of Change, Initiate/Consensus on change/s
  • CIF’s- Investigate Root Cause
  • RCA Investigations- Lead investigations/Manages Action Items
  • Safety Investigations- Own, and ensure completion
  • Efficiency – Downtime Analysis & Reporting
  • Training – develops requirements/evaluates proficiency “Pay for Contributions” for associates in their area.
  • Attend/participate in Team Lead Meetings and Production Meetings
  • Interact with Logistics team, truck carriers and CP rail to ensure shipping results are being met
  • Interfaces with the Leadership Team to ensure overall unit effectiveness.
  • Provide production team shift coverage as required

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 plus years of experience in logistics required
  • Engineer lumber experience an asset
  • Must have a strong commitment to safety and quality programs.
  • Must have a track record of consistently demonstrating leadership skills as well as positive influence and accomplishments in safety, quality, productivity, change management, and people development
  • Previous supervisory experience in a progressive team environment would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality and conduct all transactions in an ethical manner.
  • Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with SAP.
  • Commitment to a diverse work environment
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, initiatives, and willingness to take on challenges with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and deal effectively with challenging situations.
  • Must be pro-active in process improvements and have excellent follow-through in meeting commitments.
  • Results oriented with a proven track-record of responsiveness and meeting deadlines
  • Critical thinker, enthusiastic and positive approach towards employees and work.

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $88,500- $128,500 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
