Job Summary:
The Shift Power Engineer is responsible for filling out all daily logbooks and mechanical handover books, as per ABSA requirements. Will also conduct every three hours chemical testing as required, overseeing the blowdowns of boilers and autoclaves, conducting general maintenance of the facilities ‘A-Pressure’ registered equipment. Tasks include (but are not limited to) daily, weekly, monthly, and annual equipment maintenance, filling out all logbooks, including handover notes and mechanical logbooks under ABSA regulations. Tasks will include PWO/UWO and PM as assigned, skills flex abilities, pre-shift toolbox huddles, shift transitions, pre-start up plans and shutdowns, and inspections of all steam traps on autoclaves. Inspections and clean out of Y-strainers, check valves, air regulators, filters, and separators are also included. Will ensure that the blow downs are completed, water softener systems are maintained, and notify your supervisor of any stock levels that have fallen below minimum requirements.
This role will report directly to the Power Engineer Supervisor, who will be supported by the Maintenance Coordinator and the Maintenance Manager. The Shift Power Engineer will also work closely with all departments and HSE to ensure the safe effective utilization of the company’s ‘A-Pressure’ vessel assets.
