Course Information

Course number and title: Sessional Lecturer – LHA1844H - The Student Experience in Postsecondary Education

Course description: This course will explore the theoretical and conceptual foundations of the student experience in postsecondary education. We will study the nature of work in postsecondary education that supports students' development and learning. Students will review and discuss literature that addresses various components of the student experience, focusing on outcomes of postsecondary education and assessing various student outcomes.

Class schedule (Lectures): Tuesday 17:00 - 20:00 - In-Person

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023

Salary

Pay for half course, vacation pay included:

  • Sessional Lecturer I: $9,182.42
  • Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $9,641.55
  • Sessional Lecturer II: $9,826.96
  • Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,025.84
  • Sessional Lecturer III: $10,060.93
  • Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $10,262.15

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must hold an EdD or PhD in Higher Education or a related field and have evidence of expertise in the areas of the course topic. Demonstrated prior experience in graduate level teaching online, preferably using Canvas/Quercus. Demonstrated prior graduate teaching experience in the areas of course topic.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to individuals with prior graduate teaching experience in this area.

Description of Duties

Prepare, organize, and teach this full-course graduate seminar; be available to students seeking assistance between classes; evaluate and provide students with feedback on their work.
