The Department Of Psychology At Concordia University Of Edmonton Invites Applications For Sessional Instructors To Support Our Graduate Psy.D. In Clinical Psychology And Undergraduate Psychology Programs. All Areas Of Specialty Are Welcomed To Apply, But We Are Especially Interested In Sessional Instructors Who Have The Capacity To Teach

  • Multiculturally competent approaches to counselling and assessment
  • Neuropsychology and neuropsychological assessment
  • Forensic Psychology, intervention, and assessment
  • Foundational courses in Clinical and Counselling Psychology
  • Intellectual Assessment
  • Program evaluation
  • Mixed methods in research

All courses are in-person. Further information on courses and times can be found here: https://concordia.ab.ca/student-services/registrar/timetables/ (Choose 2025 Winter Term, Psychology) Where the course schedule has been set, sessional Instructors must be able to accommodate the day and time noted for the respective course.

Please note, courses for the Winter 2025 semester start on January 6th, 2025.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Interim Director, Psy.D., the Sessional Instructor’s responsibilities include:

  • Preparation and delivery of weekly instructional lectures, assignments, and examinations relevant to the course taught;
  • Grading assignments and exams;
  • Providing constructive feedback to students;
  • Maintaining regular office hours;
  • Working collegially as a team member.
Qualifications
  • An ideal candidate will have a Masters degree, Ph.D., or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, School Psychology, or Clinical Neuropsychology;
  • A Registered Psychologist who has relevant expertise and/or experience in their course material;
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Demonstrated empathetic approach to the instructional needs and concerns of students;
  • Experience using a learning management system, such as Moodle, and familiarity with educational technologies, would be beneficial, with an aptitude to learn other software as required.
