DUTIES

The University and Employment Preparation Department at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a sessional lecturer to teach a section of the following course in Summer 2025: MATH 0510 (Advanced Algebra).

Course description: Students study concepts that include basic algebra, systems of linear equations and inequalities, polynomials, relations and functions, rational expressions and equations, radical expressions and equations, quadratic equations and functions, and trigonometry.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Master’s degree in a relevant field required.
2. At least one degree in Math or a closely related discipline required; consideration will be given to degrees with a minor or a concentration in math.
3. Teaching Certificate or Instructor’s Diploma or 5 years teaching experience in ABE required.
4. Demonstrated evidence of scholarly teaching required.
5. Experience teaching students whose educational, social and economic backgrounds are diverse, and for whom previous school experience may have been challenging required.
6. Experience teaching ABE preferred.
7. Skills in building intercultural understanding, empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) preferred.
8. Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) preferred.
9. Teaching excellence including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) preferred.

Pay Band: $113.21 - $113.21 (Sessional Faculty - Academic Access Programs (per hour))
