DUTIES:

This course provides the students with the basic knowledge of surveying as it applies to current engineering and construction practices. Focuses on surveying theory and practices required to execute specific survey tasks. Hands-on experience using modern surveying equipment and techniques to generate survey information relevant to construction and engineering projects. The students will use MicroSurvey Field Genius and Autodesk Civil 3D software for surveying computation and plotting from field notes. This course takes place for two weeks at the end of the Winter semester.
The sessional instructor will be the lead instructor in teaching this course. The instructor must be available from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday for the two weeks that the course runs. The sessional instructor is also responsible for marking the seminar assignments, quizzes and exams for the course. The marking will take place outside of the class time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will be a Civil or Building Technologist, Intern Architect, Registered Architect, Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer with experience in using AutoDesk Civil 3D software and with field surveying. Some teaching experience or teaching assistant experience would be an asset.
