Your area of focus.
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Service Manager to oversee the daily operations of our service department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a team of service technicians, service advisors, and support staff, ensuring that all customer service needs are met efficiently and to the highest standards. The Automotive Service Manager will also be tasked with improving the overall profitability of the service department while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction and quality of service.
What drives your day-to-day?
- Supervise and lead a team of service technicians, service advisors, and support staff.
- Maintain excellent customer relationships by addressing customer concerns, ensuring timely communication, and resolving issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Oversee the scheduling and coordination of service appointments and repairs to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Monitor the progress of service jobs and ensure timely completion of all tasks.
- Inspect and monitor the quality of repairs and maintenance performed by technicians to ensure that all work complies.
- Monitor key financial metrics and work towards improving profitability.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including repair times, service revenue, customer satisfaction, and employee productivity.
- Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities to service department staff to keep up with the latest automotive trends and repair technologies.
- Ensure the department adheres to all safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies, creating a safe work environment for all employees.
What are the must-haves…
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the automotive service industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- CDK experience is an asset.
- Strong understanding of automotive repair, diagnostics, and maintenance procedures, along with experience with various makes and models.
- Proven experience in managing and leading a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and keep operations running smoothly.
- Proficiency with automotive diagnostic tools, repair software, and industry-specific programs.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in automotive technology, business management, or a related field is preferred.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or other relevant industry certifications are an asset.
