We are looking to hire a Senior Telecommunications Technician based out of Medicine Hat, Alberta.
The Senior Telecommunications Technician is responsible for both the on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications infrastructure, as well as developing and overseeing fibre optic services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute fiber optic network installations in various locations, ensuring adherence to industry standards and quality requirements.
- Pull cable from device to network rack or room.
- Install conduit, create IP networks, and install cameras, access control, intrusion, and environmental devices; complete network and fiber terminations, testing, and programming of phone systems; boost cell and Wi-Fi signals to ensure seamless connectivity and security.
- Perform regular maintenance and inspections to identify and rectify network issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, and optical transceivers.
- Ensure all communication system manuals and drawings are available and up to date.
- Monitor costs and budget for maintenance and construction projects.
- Evaluate current designs and recommend changes to stay current with technology to maximize performance.
- Understand, implement and always enforce safety and environmental programs.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment, as needed, to support network functionality.
- Conduct cabling, connections, splicing, and terminations of fiber optic cables as per project specifications.
- Test and verify network connections to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain detailed records of fieldwork activities, including installations, repairs, and maintenance.
- Generate reports on field activities, network performance, and issue resolution.
- Strictly adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations to maintain a secure working environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize network performance and ensure seamless connectivity for customers.
- Provide technical support and assistance to customers when necessary.
- Complete site surveys and estimates.
- All other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:- Proficient in fiber optic cable installations, terminations, splicing, and testing.
- Familiarity with telecommunications equipment, network infrastructure, and industry standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Project management skills.
