Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Solutions, the Senior System Analyst plays a critical role in architecting and maintaining a robust, reliable and secure application systems environment by overseeing corporate and departmental business systems from inception through to retirement. This role is responsible to act as a liaison and primary contact to the business teams using the systems, vendors and other municipalities as it relates to system related issues.

Duties for this progressive role include, but are not limited to:

  • Requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance of business solutions;
  • Understanding system requirements for corporate and departmental solutions with an emphasis on configuration, integration, testing, deployment and support;
  • Ensuring systems meet the requirements outlined by business teams prior to implementation as well as the standards related to privacy and security in order to reduce corporate risk;
  • Responsible for the various stages within the business solution lifecycle and supporting portfolio projects as required;
  • As part of the IT team, ensuring system integrity, performance and application security compliance;
  • Providing technical advice related to continuous improvement of corporate business solutions;
  • Identifying and recommending changes for configuration and security to enhance the reliability and functionality of systems and reducing corporate risk;
  • Developing and maintaining interfaces between new and legacy systems including documentations;
  • Conducting regular reviews of systems and generating reports on efficiencies & areas of improvement, working with vendors and subject matter experts to address challenges and implement upgrades;
  • Providing 2nd and 3rd level technical support service for assigned business solutions.

What You Bring To Our Team

As the successful applicant, you must possess:

Knowledge Requirements

  • A University degree in a related discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Management Information Systems)
  • 10 years of progressively responsible related experience supporting enterprise-level applications in complex, multi-site environment
  • Experience with programming and administration of AMANDA License and Permitting Platform.
  • Experience with AMANDA infrastructure components including Yellowfin BI and Tomcat

Skill requirements

  • Knowledge and experience with database procedural languages, including PL-SQL;
  • Ability to configure, secure and support middleware technologies such as Tomcat;
  • Ability to manage multiple high priority initiatives in a fast paced, highly technical environment;
  • Detail oriented and analytical with strong problem-solving skills;
  • Strong oral, written, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Strong time management and project management skills including the ability to meet task schedule requirements, multitask and prioritize;
  • Knowledge and experience with multiple programming languages (.Net, C#, HTML, JavaScript);
  • Knowledge of data interchange formats, including JSON and XML;
  • Ability to integrate applications using REST and Web API’s;
  • Interfaces with users of technology, employing a high degree of tact and diplomacy to promote a positive image of the department;
  • Ability to research and define resolution options for problems in a professional manner;
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, including Oracle.

Salary Range/Hourly rate: $109,693.00 - $124,652.00

Hybrid information: Remote Hybrid

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., plus additional hours as required.
